CEWE is a private locally owned and operated general contractor based in British Columbia, specializing in road building and civil construction.  Established in 1953, Jack Cewe Construction Ltd. (CEWE) provides all aspects of road construction including excavation, placing gravel, base and sub-base, underground utility installation, concrete slabs, sidewalks and curbs, and of course asphalt paving and milling.

CEWE is seeking a Concrete Sidewalk and Curb Finisher to join our Construction Division. You will have experience in civil construction and road building and provide support to the concrete crew in completing both Sidewalk and Curb construction.

Responsibilities

• Direct placement of concrete into forms and surfaces  

• Finishing of concrete

• Knowledge in using hand and power finishing tools 

• Apply sealing components to cure surfaces

• Dismantle forms for pouring concrete

• Prepare surfaces for concrete placement by setting forms, ensuring proper alignment, and applying necessary coatings or treatments.

• Pour and spread concrete onto prepared surfaces, using tools such as rakes, shovels, and screeds to distribute and level the concrete.

• Finish concrete surfaces to specified textures and finishes, including broom, trowel, and stamped finishes.

• Apply curing compounds or sealants to protect concrete surfaces from damage and ensure proper curing.

• Operate hand and power tools, such as edgers, jointers, and saws, to shape and finish concrete.

• Adhere to safety regulations and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.

Qualifications and Qualities:

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a concrete finisher in road construction.

• Knowledge of concrete mixing, pouring, and finishing techniques.

• Proficiency in using hand and power tools common to concrete finishing.

• Attention to detail and precision in achieving specified concrete finishes.

• Physical stamina and the ability to perform strenuous tasks in various weather conditions.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

• Willingness to adhere to safety protocols and regulations on construction sites.
