We are a privately owned and local general contractor, specializing in road building and civil construction and have been operating in British Columbia for over 70 years. Jack Cewe Construction Ltd. (CEWE) provides all aspects of road construction including excavation, placing gravel, base and sub-base, underground utility installation, concrete slabs, sidewalks and curbs, and of course asphalt paving and milling.

 

Overview
Jack Cewe Construction Ltd. is currently seeking a full-time, permanent Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will bring experience, reliability, and confidence in operating various heavy machinery including excavators, skid steers, rubber tire rollers, and milling machines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a range of heavy equipment including excavators, skid steers, and rubber tire rollers

  • Perform excavation, trenching for utilities, exposing/crossing utilities, backfilling, and site grading

  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform greasing and basic maintenance

  • Identify and report mechanical issues or maintenance needs

  • Promote a positive work environment through effective communication and teamwork

  • Follow Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) regulations and safe work practices

  • Support and mentor junior team members

  • Collaborate with supervisors and provide feedback on work processes and improvements

  • Contribute to a culture of innovation and problem-solving

Qualifications and Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in civil construction

  • Strong understanding of working around existing utilities

  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs

  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and desire to learn

  • High attention to detail with a focus on safety

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Working knowledge of OH&S regulations and civil construction methods/materials

  • Valid BC Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract
