We are a privately owned and local general contractor, specializing in road building and civil construction and have been operating in British Columbia for over 70 years. Jack Cewe Construction Ltd. (CEWE) provides all aspects of road construction including excavation, placing gravel, base and sub-base, underground utility installation, concrete slabs, sidewalks and curbs, and of course asphalt paving and milling.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Screed Operator specializing in paving projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating screed equipment to ensure smooth, level surfaces during asphalt paving operations. This role requires a strong understanding of heavy equipment, construction processes, and techniques to deliver high-quality paving results. The position offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects within the civil construction industry, contributing to roadway improvements.

Responsibilities

· Responsible for setting asphalt depth and width to exact specifications, ensuring a consistent and high-quality finished surface as part of the road-building process

· Set and monitor screed depth and width to ensure asphalt is laid in accordance with project specifications

· Perform handwork, including shoveling asphalt into holes or areas inaccessible to the paving machine, as required

· Comply with all company safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements

· Perform other related duties as assigned

· Demonstrate a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards and help promote a culture of safety in all work environments

Qualifications:

· Minimum of 5 years of experience as a paving screed operator.

· Valid Class 5 driver’s license

· Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with crew members

· Willingness to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting heavy objects and working in varying weather conditions

· Strong attention to detail and ability to perform effectively under pressure.

· Ability to meet all safety requirements and comply with applicable safety policies

· Availability to work overtime, nights, weekends, and early starts, as required

· Willingness to work flexible hours and adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper use of company-approved personal protective equipment (PPE), such as respirators

Pay: From $43.60 per hour
