About us:

We are a privately owned and local general contractor, specializing in road building and civil construction and have been operating in British Columbia for over 70 years. Jack Cewe Construction Ltd. (CEWE) provides all aspects of road construction including excavation, placing gravel, base and sub-base, underground utility installation, concrete slabs, sidewalks and curbs, and of course asphalt paving and milling.

CEWE is seeking an Estimator to join our team! You will have experience in civil construction and road building and ideally a strong working knowledge of Heavy-bid.

Responsibilities:

  • Estimate, negotiate, and secure business opportunities with a wide range of public and private customers

  • Work closely with Contract Administrators and Engineering firms assigned to coordinate and overseas infrastructure and civil construction projects

  • Oversee project management on multiple projects that have been secured with a project team to ensure customer retention and repeat business

  • Monitor and approve subcontractors' billing and quantities

  • Analyze production and apply analysis to forecast scopes and tasks

  • Working in a team environment with Estimators and Superintendents alike

  • Adhere to company safety policies & procedures

  • Resolve escalated customer complaints 

  • Provide guidance and assistance to the project team on specific items related to the project bid/award phase

Qualifications:

  • Proven work experience in estimating and project managing in private and public sectors; design-build, joint ventures, and capital projects with a focus on civil construction.

  • Market knowledge of Greater Vancouver is an asset

  • Strong leadership & negotiation skills

  • Strong understanding of the importance of critical paths and sequence of work

  • Team Player

  • Excellent written and communication skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office, MMCD and MOTI

  • Proficiency in Heavy Bid and Heavy Job or Bid 2 Win

  • P.Eng or ASct is preferred with min 5 years of industry experience in civil construction
